Long-term Member of Parliament for the National Coalition Party Ben Zyskowicz considers that, due to health errors, he will resign before the end of his term of office, according to Helsingin Sanomat.
In an interview with the newspaper, the veteran MP revealed that he suffers from chronic migraines and depression, saying he suffers from migraine headaches every day despite the fact that he uses medications for the disease.
The newspaper noted that Zyskowicz had already reduced the workload in parliament.
"When my head aches every damn day, how could it not affect my mood," Zyskowicz told the magazine.
Zyskowicz said that by exposing his health problems, he wanted to change prejudices related to depression and lower the threshold to talk about mental health problems.
Zyskowicz, 66, has been a Member of Parliament since 1979. Finland’s next parliamentary elections are scheduled for spring 2023.
