Emergencies have occurred between noon on New Year’s Eve and at 4 a.m. on the morning of January 1st.
According to Danske Beredskaber, the 1800 firefighters who have been at work during the New Year’s Day have had “the quietest New Year’s Day for many years”.
In comparison, the municipal emergency services have had an average of 507 emergencies in the past four years over the past four years.
– As a rule of thumb, we usually say that the emergency services move out 400 times on a “normal” New Year’s Eve and night.
– This year has therefore been closer to the normal picture than we have experienced the previous four years, and it is of course very positive, says Isabel Brylov, who is an organizational consultant at Danske Beredskaber.
Isabel Brylov does not immediately have an idea whether the fewer emergencies are due to the corona pandemic or the fact that more have held New Year’s at home this year.
During the New Year’s Day, there have been three fireworks attacks on firefighters this year. By comparison, firefighters were attacked with fireworks 17 times during the New Year’s Day last year.
– It’s going in the right direction. Of course, we would like there to be no fireworks attacks on firefighters at all, but it is positive that the emergency services can in most cases be allowed to create security and take care of their work, says Isabel Brylov.
