In the period up to Christmas, there were over 100,000 tests daily. Between Christmas and New Year, there have been large fluctuations in the test numbers.
Kasper Iversen, professor at the University of Copenhagen and chief physician at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, is concerned that so few Danes are now being tested.
– It is a little worrying that very few are tested, compared to up to Christmas. This means that there is a risk that there may be some unknown infection around, says Kasper Iversen.
Also among the providers of lightning tests, there were few tested compared to before the New Year. Here, 18,422 lightning tests were performed on Saturday, of which 442 were positive.
Sunday’s infection rate from SSI gives a positive percentage of 3.09. This means that 3.09 percent of the corona samples analyzed were positive.
The number of admissions drops by seven to 937, but since Saturday there have been 125 new admissions.
When the total number of admissions still falls, it is because more have been discharged from the hospitals.
At Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, there are “very many” patients, but there is still more capacity to give.
– I still think we have a little bit to do well with yet. The biggest practical problems arise in the wards where there is local infection and massive number of sick leaves. Here we are really challenged, says Kasper Iversen.
There are now 136 people in intensive care and 87 in respirators in the whole country’s hospitals.
Another 29 have died after being infected with coronavirus.
Today’s coronatal comes after a new variant of the coronavirus has spread in Denmark.
According to the Statens Serum Institut, it may have spread to almost 800 people, and several politicians and virologists have warned that one should keep a close eye on it.
But at the same time, Denmark has also started vaccinating against corona. On Sunday, almost 48,000 doses of vaccine arrived from Denmark from Pfizer and BioNTech, and thus Denmark has soon received a total of 100,000 doses of vaccine.
