DBU: Parliament must decide
Meanwhile, the DBU has stated that even if it does not support the Qatar World Cup, it will not boycott the tournament.
In fact, the association has previously stated that the state must assume responsibility.
The DBU said that as long as there is no state boycott, it cannot boycott either – not unless a majority in Parliament agrees.
Numerous reports have pointed out that guest workers working to prepare Qatar for the massive sporting event are crumbling under slave-like conditions.
Denmark’s coach Kasper Hjulmand has stated this he would fully understand if one of his players decided to boycott the tournament in protest.
And at the end of the year, a group of fans submitted a citizens’ proposal aimed at getting Parliament to discuss the issue. So far, just over 5,400 people have signed up.
