The man is charged with murder, for which he denies guilt. However, he admits that he committed violence resulting in death.
The man knew Charlotte Asperud in advance.
She was one of the doctors who received him in the emergency room in February 2014 after a traffic accident that the man himself believed he had escaped unharmed.
During the reception, the man was aggressive, extroverted and apparently very frustrated that he could not just be discharged.
Charlotte Asperud assessed that he should be anesthetized and admitted to a psychiatric ward.
The man subsequently appealed the decision, but the appeal was dismissed.
– I was disappointed that they came so biased and would not listen to me, the man says about the meeting.
And it was the unresolved grudge that five years later drove the man to troop up at Charlotte Asperud’s cottage in Tisvildeleje in the middle of the night with a screwdriver and a crowbar.
– I wanted to talk to her. I was not aware of what time it was, he says in his explanation in court.
Special prosecutor Bente Schnack asks if he had told Charlotte Asperud that he was coming. He did not have that.
After parking the car about five minutes walk from there, he walked towards the cottage on Askevej. He snuck around behind the house, where he broke open the door with the tool.
When he entered, he heard Charlotte Asperud in the room next door and kicked the door open.
Here the two got into a brawl. Charlotte Asperud was scared, the defendant says.
Part of the episode was recorded on audio on an answering machine because Charlotte Asperud had shortly before tried to call her daughter when she became aware that someone had broken into her home.
– Lie down, you can hear the accused shouting at Charlotte Asperud repeatedly.
According to the defendant, they then came up to fight on the floor.
Charlotte Asperud had grabbed him from behind, and he hit backwards into the air with the cobweb and hit her several times, the explanation reads.
When he got free, he says, he ran out to the car and drove home.
Police found a letter in the man’s home that he had written but never sent. In the letter addressed to a friend, he asked for help to start a new life.
– I have lost everything, it said.
Charlotte Asperud was later found in a pool of blood in the bedroom. She died of her injuries the following evening.
The case is expected to end on February 23.
