It is over with flying from Dubai to Denmark – even if you can show a negative corona test.
This is how it is at least from midnight on Friday night and five days onwards.
This is stated by the Ministry of Transport in a press release late Thursday evening.
Transport Minister Benny Engelbrecht (SocDem) will stop all flights from the city of millions in the United Arab Emirates in the coming days because there is a suspicion that the tests that can be obtained before leaving Dubai are not reliable.
“We have previously seen mutations coming in via Dubai, and we can not ignore such a suspicion,” the minister said in the announcement.
Therefore, all passenger flights from the United Arab Emirates will be suspended for five days until it has been possible to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that the negative test required is in fact a real test carried out properly, says Benny Engelbrecht.
From 9 January, it has been a requirement that all travelers to Denmark be able to present a fresh coronate test, which shows that they are not infected with coronavirus.
But the Foreign Ministry has received “an inquiry” that has raised suspicions about the tests from Dubai, the announcement said.
It is not specified who received the inquiry, when it arrived or what it is about.
It has recently been reported in the media that several Danish tourists have made their way past the city of millions, which is proving to be a sunny, quarantine-free refuge – despite a sharp increase in the number of cases of infection.
At the end of last week, the Statens Serum Institut was able to state that the first case of a more contagious corona variant from South Africa had been registered in Denmark.
The infected person is from Zealand, and the infection is associated with a trip to Dubai.
The Ministry of Transport’s announcement does not state how it will ensure that the tests in Dubai are carried out properly before departure.
