Finns can book a taxi trip reimbursed by Kela if it is too bad to drive to the health care reception themselves, if they do not have a car or if they cannot travel by public transport.
Taxi trips entitling Kela to compensation can also be used for trips to coronavirus testing centers.
The personal overrun for a one-way taxi ride is 25 euros. In coronation virus tests, the passenger does not get out of the car, and therefore the price would cover the entire trip. If a passenger has to leave the car to visit a health center, for example, the return journey of a taxi will be reimbursed up to a maximum of EUR 50.
Taxis replaced by Kela must be booked through the regional shipment number, and customers can ask about their right to replace taxis with Kela at the same time as booking a coronavirus test.
The reel reimburses about 430 taxi rides a month, and taxis that transport people for a coronavirus test are equipped with a safety screen between the passenger and the driver.

"Our drivers are used to driving customers to Covid-19 test centers. They have found that healthcare professionals are also equipped with the same protective gear" Halminen said.
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is currently preparing a proposal for legislative changes that would also make the reel reimburse taxi journeys for coronavirus vaccinations.
