A number of employees at Medicals Nordic describe safety and hygiene conditions at the company’s test centers as highly criticisable.
It writes Politiken, which has spoken to both former and current employees.
They describe, among other things, how disposable gloves are not changed after sampling and that there is only rarely a splash between the patients.
In addition, unskilled 18-20-year-olds are thrown into the task of sniffing citizens after short training courses from unskilled peers.
A newly hired employee tells Politiken how he has had a “bizarre” first working week, where he received a short training from an 18-year-old man.
– It is under all criticism what is going on, and the company is not at all this big task adult, says the employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, to the newspaper.
Medicals Nordic is responsible for testing at some of SOS International’s test centers. The organization delivers tens of thousands of lightning tests every day.
The Medicals Nordic website states that “the test is performed by nose grafting by qualified and trained staff”.
The conditions described are “highly worrying”. This is what specialist in infection hygiene Hans Jørn Kolmos says.
He says the poor hygiene risks making the test stations “epicenters for the spread of infection”.
The latest information comes after Politiken has, among other things, uncovered how Medicals Nordic has violated the law by handling citizens’ sensitive health data via the free service WhatsApp.
The unit list has “minimal confidence in SOS International and Medicals Nordic’s ability and willingness to correct the errors”.
This is what health rapporteur Peder Hvelplund says after he has been presented with the new information.
The radical health rapporteur, Stinus Lindgreen, also finds the conditions described deeply reprehensible.
Medicals Nordic’s owners, Teit Reuther and Jonas Hertz, write in a statement to Politiken that it is their highest priority that citizens can feel safe in the tests they perform.
– We are behind our employees who work hard, and we are on target for their training, our centers and test results. Based on the criticism, we have chosen to tighten and increase our ongoing quality control, the statement reads.
