– It is unusually gross what you have exposed other people to, and it is an unusually serious offense you have committed in this prison escape, it sounds from judge Martin Broms in connection with the sentencing.
At Tuesday’s court hearing, Peter Madsen pleaded guilty to planning and carrying out his escape. It took place on 20 October from Herstedvester Prison in Albertslund.
Madsen was only at large for a few minutes before the police arrested him. However, it took a few hours before Madsen could be driven away from the place. He was wearing a bomb trap, and the police first had to make sure that there was no danger.
After Tuesday’s verdict, Peter Madsen chose to accept the court’s verdict.
Prosecutor Rasmus Kim Petersen had demanded a slightly stricter sentence, namely two to two and a half years in prison. Defender Anders Larsen thought that a sentence of one and a half years in prison would be appropriate.
In addition to the prison sentence, Peter Madsen must pay 19,672 kroner and 50 øre in compensation to the prison psychologist he held hostage in connection with the escape.
