The trial has begun in the Itä-Uusimaa District Court for a mother accused of murdering a 1-year-old boy in a family home in the Kaivoksela district of Vantaa.
The prosecutor said the woman had been thinking of taking her son’s life for several days, leading to the alleged murder on April 29th.
On that day, the prosecutor claims the accused choked child.
The act was done with thoughtful thinking and carried out in a particularly cruel and cruel manner by targeting an defenseless child, the prosecutor told the court.
The woman had stopped when she thought the child was dead, but then went on to see the child moving further, the prosecutor said, adding that this made the act a serious crime because it showed determination to kill.
Defendant contacted emergency services
The woman called the emergency services at about 6 a.m. and reported what had happened. Police arrived at the scene and found the child’s body in the apartment.
Other suspects are not believed to have participated in the incident. The child’s father, who lived in the same apartment, was not at home at the time.
The court heard that no motive was known for the alleged killing, but that the accused was not suspected of using drugs.
The prosecutor demands that the woman receive a life sentence for the murder.
During the pre-trial investigation, the accused admitted to police that he had suppressed his child in a plastic bag after deciding the day before he was about to commit the act.
He was prescribed a psychological evaluation during the pre-trial investigation.
