Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke (S) tells TV2 that the effect of a possible regional opening in several areas is being considered.
The effect of regional opening of the retail trade, the return of the larger classes in primary school and outdoor sports is being considered.
– It will not be bearable if we have to wait for the last dark red municipality to get the number down before we can open up the country.
– There we will have to look more regionally at it, but it is not quite easy. This is something we must be careful about, says Magnus Heunicke to TV2.
The health rapporteurs will be summoned for information on Friday about the discussions.
Differentiating reopening and closing down regionally is part of the corona system, where the National Alert System provides threat assessments for the individual regions.
Right now, however, all five regions are at the highest threat level, as there is a major concern that new, more contagious mutations of covid-19 are spreading in society.
The discussion about whether some areas can be reopened from the hard lockdown that was introduced around Christmas has been running for a while. In several places in the country, the infection is quite low.
On Thursday, for example, 15 municipalities were below the limit of 20 infected out of 100,000 inhabitants seen about the lowest level of concern.
Haderslev Municipality, for example, has only had eight infected in the last seven days, while the number in Tønder is four.
On Monday, the Liberal Party’s finance spokesman, Troels Lund Poulsen, told Ritzau:
– We are in a situation where there are big differences in how the infection rate is around the country. Therefore, we need to discuss how to make some regional efforts where the infection rate is lower.
Both the Central Jutland Region, the North Jutland Region and the Southern Denmark Region have infections below 50 per 100,000.
The Danish Chamber of Commerce welcomes the government’s opening to regional reopening.
– Because it is important that we have not shut down a day more than is absolutely necessary.
– Every closing day costs the affected companies dearly, and with the right precautions, we believe that it should be possible to let the hard-tried shops, hairdressers and so on get started again, writes CEO Brian Mikkelsen.
