Helsinki police have completed a preliminary investigation into the alleged beating of the former prime minister Juha Sipilä (Cen).
The suspected assault took place in early January near the center of Parliament in central Helsinki. According to the information received at that time, the passer-by approached and then pushed Sipilä by walking along the protective road.
Police found the suspect during a preliminary investigation but have not been able to determine the motive for the alleged attack, the investigating inspector Juhani Vuorisalo wrote in a press release.
The incident was captured by surveillance cameras in the vicinity of Parliament’s buildings.
Video material about the event A commercial broadcaster published by MTV seems to indicate the suspect is following Sipilä after the word exchange and then pushing him from behind.
The former prime minister stumbles and stops, after which the suspect begins to follow him again.
The document is submitted to prosecutors for consideration.
