Protesters took to the streets of Helsinki on Sunday to oppose the rules to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
12 separate demonstrations opposing Covid restrictions took place on Citizens’ Square in central Helsinki near the main railway station.
Police Inspector Jarmo Heinonen the subject of the protests was “freedom.”
"These people feel that their freedom is too limited," he said, noting that there were people behind the gatherings, not organizations.
According to Heinonen, the protesters were peaceful, although the police intervened to remind the participants of the guidelines for social distance.

All in all, Helsinki police had received advance notice of 50 different demonstrations scheduled for Sunday in the capital. The current regulations limit the maximum number of public meetings to ten.
