Fox News reports that the fee for candidates responsible for the 36th Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination is leading Jay-Z, Tina Turner, Foo Fightersand Iron Maiden. There is also a list of female heavy candidates Dionne Warwick, Mary J.Bligeand Go-Gos.
Expresses the joy of his appointment, Go-Go bassist Kathy Valentine Tweet “Great news to wake up and find out that @officialgogos has been named @rockhall.”
He continued, “Thank you to our amazing fans and advocates. Go-Gos are the real thing straight from LA clubs all the way to the top, self-taught and as carriers. Rock sisters.”
Other announced candidates are Rage against the machine, VL Cool J, Todd Rundgren, New York dolls, Devo, Kate Bushand Chaka Khan.
According to Fox New, artists must be absent for at least 25 years from the release of their first official recording in order to be eligible for Hall of Fame nominations. This is the case with rapper Jay-Z, who released Reasonable Doubt in 1996; and Foo Fighters debuted in 1995.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class from 2021 will be announced in May, and its induction ceremony will be held in Cleveland, Ohio this fall.
