A Danish ship capsized in the Port of Trelleborg in Sweden on Wednesday afternoon. Two out of three crew members have been rescued while one is still missing.
It writes the industry media Maritime Denmark, which has had the capsize confirmed by Peter Madsen Rederi, who owns the ship, Margrethe Fighter. All three crew members are Danes.
– I can unfortunately confirm that Margrethe Fighter capsized this afternoon at 13.30, says John H. Madsen, director of Peter Madsen Rederi, to Maritime Denmark.
– We do not know much yet, apart from the fact that two crew members have been rescued and taken to a hospital. There is still a search for the last crew member, he says.
According to the Port of Trelleborg, the ship is currently upside down in the harbor basin, while divers are in the process of examining the ship and finding the missing crew member.
– The two rescued crew members were severely hypothermic but conscious when they were picked up by a rescue ship, says Jörgen Nilsson, director of the Port of Trelleborg, to Maritime Denmark.
The port currently has no information on what is the cause of the accident.
The ship is in the harbor, in connection with the construction of two new ferry berths in the harbor.
