Following attacks and arrests in the capital area this week, seven people are now in police custody due to a shooting attack on a person in Reykjavík last Saturday.
The next day, a man in his forties was arrested and remanded in custody until Friday.
On Monday, three more people were arrested when police raided a house around Selfoss. Fréttablaðið reports that operations involved the Viking Squad – the Icelandic tactical team of the police – and that three were detained. They will remain in custody until Tuesday next week while police continue their investigation.
The story unfolded even further last night when four more were arrested in connection with the shooting. According to Fréttablaðið As a result, a woman was released and the three remaining prisoners were brought before a judge at the Reykjavík District Court under close custody.
Margeir Sveinsson, head of the investigation on behalf of the Reykjavík police, said: “Whether it is a case of two disputes or something else, we are looking at all possible aspects,” Fréttablaðið reports.
