- Every year, about 1,500 pedestrians are seriously injured when they fall after slipping on snow or ice.
- But accidents can be reduced with better shoes, say researchers at the research institute Rise, which is currently working with a slip testing method of winter shoes.
- The project is paid for by the Swedish Transport Administration as part of the zero vision of accidents in traffic, where the goal is to reduce the number of falls by 25 percent by 2030.
