- The fact that Swedish police gained access to communication from the encrypted service Encrochat has been crucial for the police to get a better picture of how the criminal networks are governed – and has been able to act against leaders in the networks, says National Police Chief Anders Thornberg, in an interview with Ekot .
- Recently, there have been several prosecutions where material from the chats is part of the evidence – and more prosecutions are expected – but the communication has also given the police new intelligence information about the criminal networks.
- “We have gained very good knowledge of the methods used, and then we have also received a lot of material that we can use in future trials,” says Anders Thornberg.
