Department stores, such as clothing and furniture stores, up to 5,000 square meters can be reopened with stricter distance requirements from March 1 across the country. However, not stores located in malls.
Larger stores can also open to a limited number of customers upon appointment. But it requires an approval from the health authorities.
This is stated in the agreement for the gradual reopening of society. The agreement has been reached between the government and its supporting parties. That is, the Radicals, the Socialist People’s Party and the Unity List.
– We have an understanding with a majority in the Folketing about a reopening, which is very close to the foundation that the experts have provided, says Minister of Justice Nick Hækkerup (S) on Wednesday morning at a doorstep about the agreement.
He refers to the recommendations that an expert group has submitted to the parliamentary parties.
– This means that it can be opened for a large part of the retail trade, for the outdoor cultural life and for outdoor sports and leisure interests with an assembly ceiling of 25 people, says Hækkerup.
Since Tuesday afternoon, there have been political discussions about the reopening. The blue parties fell from Tuesday night after many hours of discussions. The alternative smoked in the bend on Wednesday morning.
Among other things, the agreement also means that graduating students in primary schools and in upper secondary and adult education in North Jutland and West Jutland can return to physical education from 1 March.
The students in question return with 50 percent attendance. Which means every other week. It is a prerequisite that the students are tested twice a week. Continuation schools in the two areas will also open from 1 March with full attendance.
On Bornholm, where the infection has been very low, all grade levels in primary school are opened, and after-school centers also open.
According to the blue block, more should have opened up. Liberal Party chairman Jakob Ellemann-Jensen writes on Twitter:
– The shutdown has major human costs. Therefore, we should reopen society more than the government wants.
– Children and young people are frustrated. Businesses and small self-employed people are on the verge of bankruptcy. Let us approach the reopening more flexibly and show the Danes more confidence.
Dansk Industri’s CEO, Lars Sandahl Sørensen, welcomes the agreement.
– Any reopening is basically a good reopening. There is a need to thaw Denmark, our children back in schools and our economy up to speed.
– Therefore, the partial reopening that has now been put forward is a step in the right direction. Just as it is important that the large stores of over 5000 square meters can open to a limited number of customers, he says in a written comment.
However, he calls for a plan for a long-term plan for a full reopening as soon as possible.
– We must not have a neglected spring. The companies bleed a billion kroner in turnover a day, many children and young people are frustrated, and the whole society needs certainty, says Lars Sandahl Sørensen.
