This is what Sofie Carsten Nielsen, leader of the Radicals, says, who on Wednesday morning, together with the government and the other parties in the red bloc, continues the discussions about a reopening.
– We have challenged several of the premises, and we get some more calculations now. We need to be assured that if it becomes possible at all, then more things need to open faster.
– It’s being rained on. In other words, folk high schools, post-secondary schools and other classes as well as some more flexibility in relation to opening businesses.
– We all want it all to open as soon as possible. But it would be irresponsible to drive such a large amount of expert work, as we ourselves have requested, under the bus, says Sofie Carsten Nielsen.
The starting point is thus an expert group’s settings for a gradual reopening.
This includes, among other things, regional openings of continuation schools and folk high schools. Only in West and North Jutland and on Bornholm.
On Bornholm, the primary school must also reopen completely for physical education. In West and North Jutland, graduating students in primary schools must also return.
In addition, there are plans for relief for outdoor and association life, just as department stores up to 5,000 square meters may reopen. However, not in malls.
It will be within the experts’ recommendations that the easing will be, says Sofie Carsten Nielsen.
– But hopefully there will be more visibility on what will happen in the future. And far more involvement both by the Folketing and by the actors in question.
– Because when it comes to counting on bubbles at colleges and after-schools, you have to talk to them. They must be involved so that their professionalism and experience can be included. We do not have to wait until five days before. It is poorly organized by the government. We will insist on a long strategy and plan, she says.
– We will not drive the experts under the bus. But we are looking at how things can be made a little more flexible and still fully sound, says Sofie Carsten Nielsen.
The Unity List’s political spokesperson, Mai Villadsen, confirms that the easing will be within the experts’ framework.
– There is no doubt about that. That is the reason why we have moved forward together, and that the right wing, which I believe has a deeply irresponsible approach to corona handling, is no longer involved, says Villadsen.
She points out that the parties in the blue bloc since Tuesday night are no longer part of the discussions about a reopening. In short, the bourgeois parties want a greater reopening than is planned.
– It is not our wish that we go much further than what the authorities recommend. But it is clear that in the future we must have a process where we count on how we get children and young people safely back on their educations, says Villadsen.
