The 22-year-old woman was convicted of murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison on Monday after a court found that she had choked her infants in the Kaivoksela area of Vantaa at the end of last April.
According to the District Court of Eastern Uusimaa, the act was a murder. The court also held that the defendant, who had been ordered to undergo a psychological assessment during the pre-trial investigation, had reduced liability at that time.
The woman suppressed her barely two-year-old child in late April 2020 after the child’s father had gone to work. According to the court, the woman decided to kill the child the night before.
"No comprehensible motive for killing the child has been revealed. There is no dispute or coercion [the defendant] child related has been found," the court judgment says.
The woman herself called emergency services soon after the murder morning at 6 p.m., and said she had killed her child. The ambulance crew arrived in just over ten minutes, and the woman met the main door of the apartment building.
"[She] was calm and told me that the child was upstairs in the apartment and was dead," according to the witness statement.

According to the prosecutor, the woman had thought about killing her child several days before the act and made the decision to kill her son on April 28, the day before the murder.
According to the charges, the act was anticipated and carried out in a particularly cruel and cruel manner.
No other parties or intoxicants were involved. The child’s father, who lived in the same apartment, was not present at the time of the murder.
