– The government is therefore actively working for a global agreement in the OECD that ensures fair taxation of the digital economy. It is our hope that we succeed in reaching an agreement before the summer of this year, she writes.
The OECD stands for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and is an economic co-operation between Western countries.
The organization presented its proposal in 2019 for taxation of companies like Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google.
Several European politicians have in recent years criticized a number of major companies for their low tax payments in Europe.
The proposal must provide an opportunity to distribute the taxation of technology giants to the countries where the income from, for example, advertising comes in.
– There is an obvious problem when the tech giants pay a very low or no tax. It is absolutely crucial for our society, democracy and economy that the tech giants, who are among the world’s largest and richest companies, also pay a fair tax, says Joy Mogensen.
It can increase Denmark’s revenues by up to two billion kroner, the Ministry of Taxation has previously estimated. But the proposal can also affect Danish companies.
It must ensure that the 37 member states do not go solo and introduce their own tax on technology companies.
Here is a distinction to France.
