The duo are both favorites to win Saturday’s Danish Melody Grand Prix at the game providers Danske Spil and Unibet.
Per Marxen, press manager at Unibet, says that they initially considered Chief 1 and Thomas Buttenschøn’s “High Above the Clouds” as favorites, but the public mood goes a different way.
– If you had asked us a few weeks ago when we opened for odds, we would have said Buttenschøn and Chief 1. These are experienced forces, and Chief 1 has written winning songs before. But since then, the songs have been played in all sorts of places like Spotify and on the radio. And we must follow the market. Fire and Flame and The Cosmic Twins are now favorites.
– The world suffers from corona fatigue and we need a good mood. It has it here (Lighthouse and Flame, ed.) There is a little fond of the lid over it. It is retro, and you could have heard it on the radio 20 years ago, says Per Marxen.
If, on the other hand, you listen to the ordinary citizen, who can vote for his favorite on Saturday, it is the collaboration between Chief 1 and Thomas Buttenschøn that will run with the victory.
Voxmeter has got 800 representatively selected people to listen to the eight songs and judge which song they would vote for.
With the listeners, Fyr og Flamme is at the bottom.
Unibet’s Per Marxen emphasizes that a large number of factors – in addition to the song’s potential – can come into play once the show is underway.
– What matters is how the delivery is on the day. We have also seen this in Eurovision. It may be a super cool song, but it will fall through if not delivered in a cool way, he says.
At Unibet you only get the money 1.90 times again if you play at Fyr og Flamme, while you get the money 1.95 times again at Danske Spil. The figures are calculated on Friday at 4 p.m.
If it does not become the duo, the bookmakers feel confident that it will be two other duos that can run with the win.
The Cosmic Twins with the song “Silver Bullet”, gives 2.80 at Unibet and 3.80 at Danske Spil, while Chief 1 and Thomas Buttenschøn give 3.50 at Danske Spil and 4.50 at Unibet.
The songs have already been released on streaming platforms, and radio channels have also had the opportunity to play them.
Here, especially Chief 1 and Thomas Buttenschøn’s song stand out. It has been played 130 times on P4 and P5, while for example The Cosmic Twins has only been played twice on P5.
The most listened to on Spotify is Guy and Flame’s “Practice Us On Each Other” with over 167,000 plays.
Melodi Grand Prix 2021 will be broadcast on Saturday at 20.00 on DR1 and DRTV.
