DC United acquired American defender Brendan Hines-Ike on a one-year loan from Belgian KV Kortrijk, the MLS club announced on Monday.
The 26-year-old center-back from Denver played collegiately in Creighton and South Florida before starting his professional career abroad.
“Brendan joins the club after making over 100 professional appearances in Europe with Orebro SK in Sweden and KV Kortrijk in Belgium,” DC United CEO Dave Kasper said in a press release. “His defensive instincts and technical ability have been demonstrated since he first became a professional in 2016 and we are delighted to add his experience and skill to our backline as we continue to build our roster.”
Hines-Ike scored four goals and three assists in 70 matches with Orebro SK in the Swedish first division 2016-18. He joined KV Kortrijk in Belgium’s best flight in July 2018 and contributed with one goal and three assists in 51 matches.
