Exceptionally cold weather leads to dangerous driving conditions in Finland
According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, current temperatures are exceptionally low this time of year, and mercury is expected to drop by -20 to -35 ℃ on Wednesday in many parts of the country.
Heavy snowfall on Tuesday led to reduced visibility and dangerous driving conditions, which led to numerous road traffic accidents in southern Finland. A collision of several vehicles with six cars in Lahti caused several injuries, while icy conditions caused 30 cars to accumulate in Espoo. Accidents also occurred in Vantaa and Porvoo.
However, the cold weather is expected to ease soon, with meteorologists predicting higher temperatures towards the end of the week.
KFC started its operations in Finland
The American fast food chain KFC announced in a press release on Wednesday its plans to expand to Finland. Fried chicken franchise fans can expect the first restaurant to open right this year.
The Estonian Apollo Group, which has opened KFC restaurants in several Baltic countries, is responsible for launching the brand in Finland.
CEO of KFC Finland Janne Einola noted that the company has begun the recruitment process. The chain has previously been reported to face numerous failed attempts to establish operations in Finland.
