The announcement from the blue parties comes after the Minister of Defense in recent weeks has received criticism from some employees in the defense.
In a column in Berlingske, the chairmen of the officers’, regular staff’s, reserve associations and the Danish Soldiers’ Associations’ National Council have written, among other things, that there is a bad mood and no understanding of the minister’s communication.
This should lead to self-knowledge on the part of the Minister of Defense, according to the Liberal Party’s defense spokesman, Lars Christian Lilleholt.
– Our impression is that the Minister ignores and neglects the problems. The Minister pretends that there is almost no criticism. It disappoints me deeply. And I miss answers to how the minister will restore confidence in the defense, says Lars Christian Lilleholt.
The Danish People’s Party’s defense spokesman, Søren Espersen, is also surprised that the minister does not look further inwards after the criticism from the four organizations.
– Has the Minister not made any mistakes? It can not fit. I get a lot in soldier circles at the moment and there is not a clear picture that everything is going well.
– I miss a self-knowledge on the part of the Minister that mistakes have been made. I really just want that realization so we can move on, says Søren Espersen.
Private soldiers and officers have, among other things, criticized Trine Bramsen for calling the chief of defense a “chief of staff”.
It is seen by critics as a downgrading of the Chief of Defense and by extension the defense.
When asked whether she regrets anything after the criticism, Trine Bramsen says:
– If there is one thing I regret, it is that the focus has once again been removed from the skilled and dedicated employees in the Armed Forces. I would like to contribute to that getting more space, says Trine Bramsen.
She believes that criticism is taken seriously and refers to the creation of a dialogue forum where criticism can be addressed.
– When the criticism was raised, I convened the organizations to listen to the criticism and discuss how we move forward. I think that is the right move to take on it, says Trine Bramsen.
However, the Liberal Party’s member of the Defense Committee, Hans Christian Schmidt, calls for a concrete outcome of the meeting in the form of a plan for restoring confidence in the defense leadership:
– I’ve asked about it three times. I know what it means when you do not get an answer. It is a pity because the minister should be able to answer that, says Hans Christian Schmidt.
Against this background, the Liberal Party warns that it will probably convene the Minister of Defense for a new consultation on the matter.
