The demonstration was organized by the Men In Black movement, which opposes coronary restrictions.
The punishment has been doubled compared to what a similar case would normally trigger from punishment. The court has in fact followed the prosecution’s claim to apply a special section of the Penal Code, section 81 d.
It is about whether “the offense has a background in or connection with the covid-19 epidemic in Denmark” and gives the court the opportunity to double the sentence.
– The corona provision on double punishment applies, says the presiding judge at the sentencing.
– Without this rule, the punishment would have been one year in prison, he continues and elaborates that emphasis has been placed on the woman’s statements and actions in connection with the demonstration.
Defense attorney Hassan Mahmood argued the opposite that his client, who denies guilt, should be acquitted.
He states on Friday that the woman has taken time to consider whether she will appeal the verdict.
The 30-year-old mother exclaimed crying, “I have two children” when the verdict was read out. When she was going out to talk to her defender, she said she could not walk.
The woman has been convicted of inciting assault with cannon shots, stones, cans and torches against officers at the demonstration, which developed into riots in, among other places, the Town Hall Square.
Here she gave a speech in which, among other things, she asked the demonstrators if they were “ready to walk around and smash the city in a non-violent way”.
The woman has been in custody since January 28, and the court has ruled that the woman must remain in custody for the time being.
