Only about 25-30 percent as many trips are booked as in a normal year without corona.
This is reported by the four largest Danish travel companies.
These are Spies Travel, TUI, Bravo Tours and Apollo. Together, they account for 75 percent of the Danish travel industry.
– The Danes book travel, but it is at a much lower level than usual, says the CEO of Spies Rejser, Jan Vendelbo.
The number of booked trips is approximately at the level that was expected in the travel industry based on the consequences of the corona pandemic.
But the four companies expect them to come up with around 70 per cent of the trips that would have been booked in a normal year before we get to the summer.
A Voxmeter survey conducted for Ritzau between 5 and 11 March shows that Danes are very insecure during the summer holidays.
Just over half of the respondents answer that they do not expect it to be possible to travel abroad this summer.
But according to the travel industry, Danes really want to travel. Among other things, several of the companies can look at the number of bookings for next winter, which is above a normal year.
And on the many inquiries they receive from travel-loving customers.
– There is an insanely great desire to travel and the desire to live the good life, says Peder Hornshøj, CEO of Bravo Tours.
The travel industry has been hit really hard during the corona pandemic. And is very pressured.
What will really help is an overall plan with concrete dates on when what opens, sounds the consensus of the four travel companies.
The government has stated that it is working on a reopening plan for foreign travel, which should be ready by 5 April.
