A limited oil spill was detected on Saturday in Kilpilahti harbor, next to Neste Oil’s refinery in Porvoo, about 40 km east of Helsinki.
The Eastern Uusimaa Rescue Service began collecting oil from the port on Sunday.
According to officials, the oil spill seemed to be confined around the tanker to be docked in the port. The leak was spotted on Saturday at about 3 p.m., when the cargo was unloaded from the ship.

In addition to Neste’s own tugs and boats, border guard ships were on hand.
The Border Guard’s oil spill response vessels can be requested from the scene later, it is said Tomi Nurmivaara Director of the Eastern Uusimaa Rescue Service, who supervised the operation.
Liquid: No oil from the tanker cargo
The source of the leak was still sought, however Jori SahlstenThe production manager of liquid petroleum products, the type of oil in the water differs from the type of oil stored in a visiting tanker moored in the port.
Sahlsten said he expects oil in the water to be collected because the area is limited and close to the vessel.
"If it were on the high seas, it would probably be harder. It is likely that it may be in the immediate vicinity of the quay, so it should be possible to collect it very accurately," he told Yle.
โThe number is still difficult to estimate, but it doesnโt seem to be very large based on the area [visible] in the immediate vicinity of the vessel, โSahlsten added.
