29 percent of Politiken’s employees have experienced unwanted verbal or physical sexual experiences within the last three years.
It shows a study of unwanted sexual experiences and discrimination on Politiken, which Kvinfo has made for the newspaper.
The survey started in September after the letter of support to Sofie Linde on the front page of the newspaper. There are responses from 459 current and former employees.
– The study’s conclusions confirm the feeling we have had that we have problems in relation to everyday sexism with bad jokes and flat remarks. And it also identifies a problematic party culture, says editor-in-chief of Politiken Christian Jensen in Politiken’s own history.
It is especially younger employees who have had unwanted sexual experiences. Christian Jensen calls it “a major failure on our part”.
In the study, however, no one has felt pressured or threatened with sexual services.
On the other hand, 47 percent do not know how the workplace handles cases of unwanted sexual experiences.
The survey also shows that many employees have pointed out that Politiken discriminates on pay between men and women.
The women at Politiken’s editorial offices receive an average of DKK 1,765 less in salary each month than the men, and the number has increased from DKK 1,211 in 2019, the newspaper writes.
That point the management will “relate to differently in the future”.
In January, Politiken’s management issued warnings to five male employees for cross-border and abusive behavior.
