Since December 1 last year, a 30-year-old woman has been in custody, charged with robbery.
This is stated by the South and Southern Jutland Police, who suspect the woman of having been in charge of more than 20 brothels in several police districts.
In connection with the case, the police have conducted searches and interrogations at a large number of brothels. Two other women have been arrested in connection with the case. They have been released again, but they are still charged.
The action against the brothels has also led to the investigation of money laundering in connection with their earnings. That part of the case involves a large number of people and involves several million kroner.
In a press release, the police say that a large number of brothels in the police district are regularly checked. This year, the South and Southern Jutland Police have thus carried out 24 inspections at brothels.
During the inspections, the prostitutes’ papers are checked and they are questioned about their working conditions. They are asked if they may be pressured into prostitution, if they may be trafficked or want help to get out of their situation.
If the police district receives information that points in the direction that there may be a case of ruffianism – ie that others profit from the women’s prostitution – an investigation will be initiated.
It was such that the police got on the trail of the 30-year-old woman.
The constitutional hearing and subsequent court hearings in the case have taken place behind closed doors. The police will therefore not provide further information about the case.
