Fines, up to two years in prison
Chief physician of Kittilä Heidi Tanninen said the suspected forgery would be a serious matter for the police to investigate.
"If the rules of quarantine and isolation are violated in any way, someone can get sick and at worst suffer a serious illness or even death. This is a serious matter for the individual," he said.
By Minna KimpimäkiProfessor of Criminal Law at the University of Lapland, convictions for forgery usually result in a fine or even a two-year prison sentence, although the circumstances of the sentence may affect the severity of the sentence.

During last month’s school ski holidays, tourists made up half of Lapland’s coronavirus cases. According to Kittilä officials, there have been cases of violations of quarantine rules in the municipality.
"People may not know that they can still infect others with the coronavirus, even if they are asymptomatic," Kittilä’s doctor Tanninen said. "They can be contagious for up to a couple of days before symptoms begin to appear. Quarantine is a risky time in that sense."
