- Tensions in the South China Sea are rising again. That after hundreds of Chinese ships that the Philippines says belong to the Chinese navy have anchored at a Philippine reef.
- China, for its part, claims that the reef lies within the so-called Nio-point line, which is the border in the South China Sea that China has drawn to delimit the sea area to which it considers itself entitled.
- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said through his spokesman that they take China’s presence in the area very seriously and see it as a threat to the integrity of the Philippines.
