Muscle pain, difficulty concentrating and shortness of breath. These are some of the late effects that covid-19 patients can suffer after being infected with the disease.
For some, the injuries continue long after the course of the disease, and since March last year, 5,544 people have reported a corona-related occupational injury to Arbejdsmarkedets Erhvervssikring (AES).
It writes Jyllands-Posten.
About two thirds of them work in the social and health sector.
In the trade union FOA, Torben Klitmøller Hollmann, who is chairman of the social and health sector, takes the many reported occupational injuries as an expression that many social and health workers have been at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus.
– The figures show that we have not been good enough to take care of the employees – especially not at the beginning of the epidemic, he says.
805 people who have had their notification processed have so far had their covid-19 disease recognized as an occupational injury. Fewer than five have been rejected, the newspaper writes.
According to Eliane Hove, section manager in Arbejdsmarkedets Erhvervssikring, both the number of reported cases on a single diagnosis and the recognition percentage are very high compared to normal.
However, the fact that corona has been recognized as an occupational injury does not mean that you can be reimbursed, she says.
– At present, there is limited medical knowledge about the consequences after infection, and as a starting point, we therefore look at the case again a year after our first decision.
– There must be permanent injury before compensation can be paid, says Eliane Hove to Jyllands-Posten.
