Last year, lethal violence was the highest since the start of the survey in 2002, according to the Crime Prevention Council’s new figures. Not since the beginning of the 90s has it been at such high levels, according to our legal reporter Simon Andrén.
In 2020, 124 cases were found and this is increasing, especially in Stockholm. Lethal violence means murder, manslaughter or other violence that results in someone dying.
- The number of cases of lethal violence against women in a couple relationship in 2020 amounted to 13 cases, which was 3 cases less than in 2019.
