Jørn Pedersen believes that the new model will give the municipalities a better opportunity to navigate when the number of infected is so high that the municipality has to make closures.
Kolding Municipality has previously been hit hard by shutdowns due to outbreaks. Here you will no longer have to shut down an entire municipality at once.
– We can pull the brake ourselves. We in the municipality, with our geographical knowledge, can change and shut down, which we believe is best, says Jørn Pedersen.
In the agreement, it was decided that when the incidence in a municipality exceeds 200 infected with covid-19 per 100.00 citizens, schools, club facilities, sports activities and cultural activities must be closed down.
Local shutdowns are important for new outbreaks to be dealt with quickly. This is stated by the Ministry of Health in a press release on the establishment of the new model.
Jørn Pedersen is very positive about the fact that it will be easier to react locally.
– That we can start our civil service without approvals from ministries is an important part when it comes to slowing the spread of infection, he says.
The model is to be considered by the Epidemic Committee on 7 April. It is expected to enter into force on 12 April.
