In contrast, the popularity of the two right-wing opposition parties rose to 19.0 percent and 18.8 percent, respectively.
Support for the Social Democrats has now fallen for two months. The decline accelerated last month from time to time in a heated debate over possible movement restrictions. Three of the five ruling parties, along with opposition parties, publicly questioned the restrictions favored by the prime minister Sanna Marin (SDP).
Tuomo TurjaResearch Director Taloustutkimus told YLE on Wednesday that the discussion on measures to treat the coronavirus epidemic may also have affected the approval ratings related to the municipal elections.
“Support for municipal elections is being measured, but election campaigns have not yet started and elections have been postponed. This may reflect more of the general political debate we have had recently. “
The economic survey interviewed 2,463 people in a survey from March 8 to 30.
The results of the survey are good, especially for the national coalition. Unlike the Party, an opposition party can be relatively confident that its supporters will follow the day of the upcoming election.
“The national coalition has a good position in the sense that its supporters are loyal. The National Coalition Party can be confident that the results of opinion polls will also materialize in elections. The Finnish party has more challenges in this respect, ”Turja analyzes.
The three parties are followed by the Center (12.5%) and the Green League (12.1%). The latter was the party that recorded the most significant increase in popular support – one out of 1.1 points – possibly at the expense of the Left Alliance (7.8%).
“The Left Alliance has lost the support of women, young people and people living in southern Finland in particular. The Greens have received support from the same groups, ”Turja said.
On the other hand, the center has continued to wire the water as many of its long-term supporters are happy to follow the situation from the sidelines. The party should therefore make every effort to make its potential supporters available on election day in order to obtain at least a satisfactory result from the election.
The support of the Party of Agriculture is currently five points lower than its share of the votes cast in the 2017 municipal elections – a result that was massively disappointing at the time.
There were no significant changes in the popularity of the Swedish People’s Party (4.3%), the Christian Democratic Party (4.0%) or the Now movement (1.3%).
