It is the opposition party Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA) that, according to opinion polls, is heading towards becoming the largest party. It will give the party the first right to try to form a government. IA is a sister party to SF.
16 seats are needed for a majority in Inatsisartut.
Greenland has not registered new corona cases for almost a month. Still, the virus plays into election day.
Thus, there are both rules for sprinting and distance, just as the Greenlanders have been encouraged to vote by mail to avoid large gatherings on election day.
This is done on the basis of a precautionary principle.
A total of 31 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Greenland. They have all since been recovered.
The hope is that the final election results will be ready before midnight Greenland time on Tuesday. This corresponds to 04 o’clock Wednesday morning Danish time.
