A total of 74 passengers flying to Iceland decided to quarantine yesterday at the Fosshótel Hotel in Þórunnartún, Reykjavik. There are currently 167 guests in the facility.
“The number of visitors has changed significantly since yesterday. Some people ended their quarantine after the second screening, and others decided to leave the hotel and go elsewhere “ Says Gunnlaugur Bragi Björnsson, Information Officer for the Red Cross.
“Based on yesterday’s number of guests, quite a lot of people decide to continue using this opportunity” Gunnlaugur said.
The District Court on Monday ruled on the illegal transfer of people to quarantine hotels. The National Court is expected to issue its ruling on this matter today.
Gunnlaugur says that the vast majority of guests were positive about their stay. “Everything is going smoothly, and maybe even better in the current situation, when a decision has been made on previous questionable issues and the people staying at the hotel are there of their own free will.” – added.
The Norræna ferry arrived today in Seyðisfjörður with 41 passengers and 16 cars on board. They are not compulsorily directed to the Hotel Hallormsstaður near Egilsstaðir to be quarantined there. “This hotel was prepared during Easter before the last changes took place. The facility is ready as a quarantine hotel and will be available to passengers arriving in Seyðisfjörður. “
