The child is one and a half years old. On Friday last week, it was admitted to Odense University Hospital with a fracture. Since then, Vejen Municipality has reported the case to the police, and it has resulted in the arrest of the two.
The police do not state what the woman’s and man’s relationship is to the child. It is therefore still unknown whether these are the parents.
The woman and the man are charged with violating the Penal Code’s provision on so-called qualified violence – in everyday speech called aggravated violence.
For the sake of the further investigation of the case and for the sake of the victim, the prosecution will ask the judge in Esbjerg to issue an order that the court hearing must be held behind closed doors.
The prosecution thus does not want the public at present to be made aware of the details of the case.
Friday’s court hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m.
Police have not said how the detainees relate to the charges against them.
