On Monday, the court in Frederiksberg will open the case against the 21-year-old man who, according to the prosecution, was behind the wheel.
After the accident, the driver of the car ran off on foot, and especially the relationship got harsh words on the way all the way to the top of the government. The Minister of Justice called the perpetrator a kryster, and the Prime Minister called him a coward.
Police quickly suspected the 21-year-old, who was wanted the same evening with his name and picture. The next day, he was arrested, and in a subsequent constitutional hearing, he was remanded in custody.
Three of the total of 35 matters in the indictment are about the accident. Here he is charged with negligent manslaughter in particularly aggravating circumstances by driving the car under the influence of cocaine and laughing gas.
In addition, he is charged in connection with the accident for endangering his mother’s life and for leaving the victims in a helpless state.
During the constitutional hearing, he admitted negligent manslaughter, but denied that it should have happened in particularly aggravating circumstances.
He is also charged with endangering the lives or mobility of others in connection with an accident on Ingerslevsgade in Vesterbro in January 2019. Here he hit another car under the influence of alcohol, so two people were seriously injured, according to the indictment.
During a search of the 21-year-old’s residence in Ishøj, the police found in a safe 51 counterfeit thousand kroner banknotes, which he is accused of having been in possession of.
Drug trafficking is also included in the indictment.
From August 7 last year until the accident on October 28, he allegedly sold at least 215 grams of cocaine as a white bid. In September, he was also in possession of one and a half kilos of hashish, according to the prosecution.
Finally, a string of enrichment crimes and violations of the Traffic Act are included in the indictment.
The case has been raised as a jury case. This means that the prosecutor will demand that he be sentenced to at least four years in prison if he is found guilty.
