The Danes are quietly starting to associate with more people. This is shown by the latest Hope report, which follows the Danes’ behavior during the corona.
However, it is a very slow way back to normal. Right now, according to the study, we see on average just over five people daily outside the household.
It is on a par with December, before restrictions were tightened to curb the rapidly spreading infection in the community.
According to professor of political science Michael Bang Petersen, Aarhus University, who is leading the project, it is across the palette that we see more people.
– We see more friends, more colleagues, more family, and then we just bump into more people in the public space, he says.
In December, among other things, department stores, shops – with the exception of supermarkets – and liberal professions such as hairdressers were closed after rising corona infection.
The site was shut down even more when the B117 virus variant began to spread. But over the past few months, society has gradually reopened.
– Even though we are starting to see more, we are still at a relatively low level.
– This summer we saw ten people outside the household. So we are a piece from a more free life that we had this summer, says Michael Bang Petersen.
He says that no studies have been made of how many people Danes see on average daily under more normal circumstances.
– But foreign figures have surged, it may be about 12 people, it sounds from the professor.
Among other things, the Hope project also looks at trust in the authorities.
However, it does not appear that the larger interfaces are due to less trust in their advice. However, the perception of the recommendations is improving.
It may instead be due to the fact that we are now on our way back to a more normal everyday life, says Michael Bang Petersen.
– When you create more activity in some areas – for example that some return to work – it creates a perception that it is all more normal.
– This means that you probably also act normally in other areas of your life – for example, that you invite people over who you would not have done a few weeks ago, he says.
