– We are sad again this year to have to cancel May 1 in Fælledparken.
– We had looked forward to good conversations about the things that affect the Danes deeply. The corona crisis has put a lot of things at the forefront; many have lost their jobs – and others are unreasonably busy during this period, says Per G. Olsen, chairman of FH Hovedstaden, in the press release.
The workers’ international day of struggle will instead be marked with a number of virtual features from the trade union movement, which interested parties can follow via the trade union movement’s Facebook page.
There will be political speeches, music and features from union and health and safety representatives.
Even though the gathering in the large park in Østerbro has been abolished, the trade union movement will still make its mark on Fælledparken on the first day of May.
There will be banners with messages all around, FH Hovedstaden informs.
It was historic when the match day was canceled in Fælledparken last year. May 1 has been marked in the park in Copenhagen since 1890 every year with the exception of in 1940, when Denmark had shortly before been occupied by Germany.
