A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged with setting two fires on Monday night in Silkeborg.
The Central and West Jutland Police stated this shortly after midnight on Tuesday night.
The 49-year-old man will be brought before a judge on Tuesday with a view to having him remanded in custody, investigation leader Bent Riber said on Tuesday morning.
A 37-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment after staying in an apartment that was set on fire. The man who lives at the address was smoke poisoned, Bent Riber informs.
It was a patrol from the police who shortly before 9 pm discovered heavy smoke from an apartment on Drewsensvej in Silkeborg.
When the patrol stopped at the building, they could see a man running from there.
Shortly afterwards, the police came back on the trail of the 49-year-old man who was setting fire to an entrance on Bindslevs Plads.
Police arrested the man on the spot and charged him with both counts of arson.
After midnight on Tuesday night, police were present in the area with both forensic technicians and dog patrols. Here they were engaged in the initial investigation.
On Tuesday morning, the police are still investigating the episodes, says Bent Riber.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
