According to the indictment, the abuse and abuse took place over two periods: from November 2017 to April 2018 and again from November 2019 to July 2020.
Senior prosecutor Mia Østergaard from the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police says that these are periods when the family has been in Denmark. In the period between April 2018 and November, the family has been out of the country.
The indictment states that the man “several times” raped the woman. She has tried to resist by kicking beats and crying to get free. But the man tore off her clothes and held her tight, according to the indictment.
It all took place, according to the prosecution, in the shadow of a regime of violence perpetrated by the man against his wife and the couple’s four children. They were abused by the man, and if they were not themselves victims of beatings, they saw to it that the others were beaten, the indictment reads.
The youngest child was about three years old when the violence began in 2017. The oldest son was about 15 years old. The indictment describes an episode in which the eldest son prevented his father from beating his mother with a metal lamp.
According to the accusations against the father, the same boy was the victim of a blow to the face with both a flat and clenched hand. The father also grabbed the eldest son and mother by the neck.
The husband’s mistreatment of the family took place in periods up to several times a week. The indictment describes blows, pushes and jerks in the hair. The children were also kicked and stepped on, it sounds.
A daughter was accidentally hit in the back of the head with a clasped hand, so she banged her head down on a table.
According to the indictment, the abuse and rape took place at addresses in Slagelse, Korsør and Copenhagen.
Precisely the husband’s abuse of the family is mentioned in the indictment’s point about rape. For the prosecution, in the opinion of the prosecution, it must be seen as part of the sexual coercion that the man has exercised against the woman.
The man is also accused of threatening his wife with death in several cases. At one point, he should have said with a knife in his hand and in front of the children that he would “open her throat” and that “he would kill her”.
He should also have said, “I swear to God you’ll suffer. I’m ruining your life, I tell you” or something like that.
The horrors came to an end when the woman arrived at a shelter, which reported the case to the police.
According to Mia Østergaard, the parents have roots in Morocco, while the children were born in Spain. The father is currently a Spanish citizen. She says the prosecution is investigating the possibilities of deporting the man.
The prosecution has filed the case as a jury case and is thus going after more than four years in prison. The man denies guilt. Judgment in the case is expected no later than 28 May.
