A former participant in the children’s program “Ultra throws the clothes” has been sentenced to nine months in prison for sexually abusing a child and for possession of more than 3,000 child pornographic images and videos.
It writes Information Friday.
The verdict was handed down on Monday at the Court in Glostrup.
“Ultra throws the clothes” has been broadcast on DR Ultra and can be streamed on dr.dk.
The program has been criticized both at home and abroad because adults pose naked in front of children as young as 11 years old. The children can then ask the adults questions about their bodies and appearance.
The convicted participant – a 41-year-old man – has participated in one episode of “Ultra throws the clothes”, where he was one of several adults who threw the clothes.
Last autumn, DR became aware that he was suspected of having committed sexual assault, after which the section in question was removed from DR’s website. However, it happened without any explanation.
DR did not want to participate in an interview about the case, but in an email, head of DR Ultra Morten Skov Hansen states that the participating children and adults have been separated during all recordings.
– We can therefore confirm that the person in question has not been near children during the entire production, he writes to Information.
The convicted participant has spoken to the newspaper. He says he signed up for the program to show what a normal body looks like.
For him, there was nothing sexual in the participation, and he does not understand the general criticism of the program.
– I do not see the problem in it, we are all born naked. And everyone has received written permission from their parents to join, he says.
In addition to the 3,000 child pornographic images and videos, he is known to be guilty of sexual intercourse other than intercourse with a child.
The man has appealed his verdict to the high court.
One of the program’s critics is legal spokesman Peter Skaarup from the Danish People’s Party. He is surprised that DR has not itself drawn attention to the fact that a participant was suspected in a case of abuse of a child.
He tells Information that he will call Minister of Culture Joy Mogensen (S) in consultation on the matter.
