- The Swedish curling ladies defeated the host nation Canada in the premiere match of the World Cup in Calgary. It was a thrilling end to the match where team Hasselborg finally stood as the winner after stealing a point in the final round.
- Canada’s team Kerri Einarson led 4-1, but Sweden caught up to 5-5 before the final round where Canada had the advantage of the last stone. There, team Hasselborg pressed so well that the Canadian skipper did not manage to put the best stone with the last attempt. Thus Swedish victory with 6-5.
- 14 teams participate in the championship and in the basic series all teams meet each other, after which the six best placed teams go to the playoffs. The first and second go straight to the semifinals while teams with places three to six play quarterfinals. A playoff spot guarantees Olympic participation in 2022 for Sweden.
