16 soldiers were killed in ambush
  • In Niger in West Africa, gunmen have killed 16 soldiers in an ambush, security sources say.
  • The attack took place on Saturday in the Tahoua region. It is not known who is behind the attack, but terrorist groups are active in the region.
  • Various terrorist groups in Niger have killed hundreds of military and civilians since 2018, when extremist movements in Mali began to have a major impact in neighboring countries as well. Terrorist movements now control large areas of Niger and Burkina Faso, both bordering Mali.
