Bente Møller, chief physician and unit manager at the agency, informs TV 2 Lorry that this is a mutation of the British corona variant, which is called E484K.
– We can see that there are several households in a smaller residential area that have this double mutation. That is why we think that there has been some kind of infection that is not obvious, and that is why we go out and recommend that people who live in the area get tested, she says to TV 2 Lorry.
The British variant B117 is currently the dominant variant in Denmark. But the double-mutated variant, E484K, the health authorities now also see a number of cases of, says Bente Møller.
– We have three parameters that we always look at when we see these new variants. One is whether it is more contagious, while the other two are whether the disease is more serious and whether it is more sensitive to vaccine.
– When there is a suspicion of whether a variant can affect these parameters, we pay special attention and initiate an intensive infection detection to get it stopped, she says.
The intensified infection detection in Herlev Syd means that close contacts to close contacts of the infected are also contacted and asked to isolate themselves and tested on the fourth and sixth day, Bente Møller informs.
– That way we are at the forefront if they have managed to spread the infection, she says.
According to Herlev Municipality, a local pop-up test center will be set up for the residents in the area.
In addition, thorough cleaning is carried out in the residential area and targeted communication to the citizens.
Among other things, Herlev Municipality had employees in the area on Friday night to inform about the situation and encourage residents to be tested.
The municipality also provides information on its website and Facebook, just as posters are put up in the stairwells in the immediate area.
Herlev Municipality states that the municipality is in close dialogue with the Danish Agency for Patient Safety and closely follows the agency’s recommendations for which initiatives should be initiated.
