But especially a ceiling of a maximum of 2000 spectators until the end of July makes the execution of the planned tour schedule impossible.
Therefore, the organizers see no other way than to cancel the Green Concert this year.
– It is extremely unfortunate to draw the plug on an incredibly well-worked idea and model, which I will always be on target for, says Theis Petersen, fundraising manager at the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, in the press release.
– We are very proud of the work we have done right up to the last grain of sand in the hourglass, and with such great and positive feedback from so many sides, our settlement model should have had the chance.
Green 2021 stood to consist of 16 concerts in July and August.
The plan was to have room for 10,000 guests per concert against the normal 35,000. Therefore, the number of concerts was doubled from the normal 8 to 16.
To reduce the risk of infection, the guests at each concert would have been divided into sections of ten with room for 1000 people in each.
Each section would have its own entrances, food and beer stalls as well as toilets. One would expect to have to show a corona pass to enter.
The model was presented by Green on 14 April.
After that, according to the organizers, it formed the basis for a group of experts’ recommendations to the government in connection with the reopening agreement that was concluded on the night between 3 and 4 May.
– The politicians and the health authorities have decided, and it does not make sense to neither believe nor hope for a Green Concert opening in the near future.
– That the Folketing chooses to deviate so significantly from the expert panel’s recommendations is deeply disappointing – especially considering that they have chosen to say goodbye to conducting other events with larger audiences in the same period, says Theis Petersen.
